Ziwen Zhang

My journey with sound began at Music Technology program at New York University, where I obtained both my bachelor and master degree. Have studied about both creative and technical aspects of sound, I built my own interpretating system for sound to its pure nature, including both the perception of sounds and the creation of sounds.

As a sound designer, I work with both linear and interactive media. My work has been featured in various high-profile commercials for brands such as One Plus, Huawei, and Descente, where I bring a detailed and impactful personal style to each project while maintaining a clear and thoughtful communication with my clients. I also bring my sounds to games as a game developer. I put a lot of energy into the design and implementation of game audio with Unity and Unreal Engine, and worked on various Wwise project with interactive music and sound design on different level. The game jam project Insomnia that I worked on was nominated for Best Overall Game at the Global Game Jam 2021.

In the past 4 years, I have been working on delivering wholesome auditory experiences, showcasing the utmost reckless nature of sound with a meticulous approach. My master thesis projects Echoes of the Dreaming Forest, a VR immersive music experience built in Unreal Engine 5, features a 13-minute experimental soundscape combining techno and field recordings with 3D audio technology in the mix to deliver an immersive audio experience. I also produce electronic music and DJ under the alias Psycho Nozomu since 2021. I've performed at famous underground clubs in Shanghai including ALL Club, Potent, Elevator etc. , and have continued my journey in US since I moved back to here in 2022.
